Resource Management
alive-IT's extensive resource data resource management function enables optimization of the enterprise's data administration, including customizable definition of data and data classes. With alive-IT, resource classes can be freely defined. alive-IT does not require a rigid database. Rather, it allows you as the administrator to create new tables and fields (for example: data for contract management), and it lets you freely define relationships to implement your business rules (for example: relating contract data with external service providers). The newly defined classes are immediately available as input masks without requiring a database administator to modifiy the database design. Any conceivable resource can be built in alive-IT.
Planning
An essential aspect of alive-IT is its process modeling. A process contains information that is required to recover a functional area of your enterprise. These can be organizational or technical tasks. The structure of Processes is based on tables; diagrams are automatically generated. You can combine existing documents (building plans, technical descriptions...) with individual activities. These process plans can be referenced online for day-to-day support as well as be published in business continuity manuals.
Highlights:
- Table-based process flow modeling (4 hierarchical levels)
- Graphical representation - automatically generated
- Management of MS Office documents and other files
- Management of links to the Internet/Intranet and LAN
- Interface to » FACT24 notification
Scenarios
Scenarios describing possible disruption of critical resources are established in alive-IT's Scenario module. Adequate response and recovery procedures are developed. Scenarios are the main starting point for finding solutions and handling problems in the event of a disruption, test or disaster. Depending upon scope of the disturbance, the solution can be very simple (e.g. server restart in case of failure of a server) or very complex (e.g. loss of a whole location, disaster).
Highlights:
- Definition of scenarios and recovery processes
- Assignment of notification procedures
- Online process flow with graphic representation
- Reports about the recovery process
Reporting
Reporting in alive-IT enables you to custom- design reports without programming. All reports may be displayed online or integrated into your manual or exported to MS Excel or to PDF files.
Manuals
With alive-IT, the generation and printing of high quality manuals are possible. The manual can be generated in PDF or HTML format. Database extract requirements are specified in the Manual Definition module. With the push of a button, manual updates can be generated and published.
Highlights:
- The Definition of the manual consists of Process Flows, Notification Procedures, Reports, other documentation and chapters
- Templates can be customized with your own cover page, headers and footers, logos, and so on...
- Manuals can be generated and saved in PDF and HTML format
- There is a copy function for the manual defintions
Planning Wizard
The planning wizard was conceived for the support of the users. Based on freely defined templates this feature allows the development of BC plans without knowledge of the application alive-IT. The planning wizard is therefore an important feature when you plan to rollout your plan templates enterprise wide. It allows not only to reduce the efforts for training but also to pre-define a common structure of the plans company-wide.
