Technology
alive-IT is an object-oriented database tool with a web-enabled user interface. The application is accessed through a normal browswer (Netscape, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Firefox...). Role-based access administration is controlled by our user and content management system. alive-IT stores entered data in a SQL-based (relational) database. It is completely developed in Java and therefore can be distributed on any platform that supports die Sun Java 5.

Security
alive-IT's security consists of four levels:
Level 1: Level 1 authenticates the UserID and password, providing basic access protection.
Level 2: Level 2 uses the HTTPS-protocol, securing transactions requested by web clients.
Level 3: Level 3 is a concealed redirection of the data package through a pre-installed web server. Here, the accessible URIs are virtual. The actual addresses of the alive-IT utilisation systems (whose interfaces are made up of Java-Servlets) remain concealed. Two web servers operated by our User- and Content Management System, with different configurations, allow for various extensive methods of viewing alive-IT to be employed (for example, a restricted one for access via Internet, and an unrestricted one from Intranet). Our User- and Content Management System and alive-IT may be operated together on one server, or they may be physically separated.
Level 4: Level 4 is controlled within the application through utilization of access rights assigned to each individual user.
