Hardware Requirements for grade-IT without alive-IT

If grade-IT is running without alive-IT, the following requirements must be met. The specifications are made with no specific platform in mind, but are representing the minimum required setup for the Windows platform. It is possible to run grade-IT with other installed software on the same system.

The following configuration represents minimum requirements:

• 1 GB RAM, recommended 2 GB or more
• 1GB Hard-drive space for the application and additional 4 GB Hard-drive space for data, temporary files and logs. We recommend 20 GB or more
• An AMD/Intel Pentium 4 with 2 GHz, recommended are higher processing capacities. Using a multi-core CPU reduces the required clock frequency
• 100 MBit Network Connection (LAN)

Software Requirements

Server

All software modules necessary for the operation are provided by Controll-IT. Not included are: Sun Java 5 (JDK 1.5.x), the database management system (DBMS), database clients (especially for Oracle) and the JDBC drivers for the DBMS. Apache Tomcat is provided as the Webserver. An integration of Apache Webserver and IIS (MS Internet Information Server) is possible. The following databases have been tested and validated for use with grade-IT:

• Oracle Version 9.2, 10
• MySQL Version 5.x
• MS SQL Server 2000, 2005

Clients

A standard modern web-browser at the client workplace is the only requirement to access the grade-IT web application. It is recommended to use that the most recent version of Microsoft Internet Explorer or Firefox. The browser must accept cookies, JavaScript must be activated.

Running grade-IT with alive-IT requires the following environment. It is possible to install grade-IT and alive-IT on a single dedicated Server.

• 3 GB RAM as a minimum, recommended are 4 GB or more
• 1GB Hard-drive space for the application and additional 4 GB Hard-drive space for data, temporary files and logs. We recommend 20 GB or more.
• A Server-System with 4 GHz (Multi-Core-Systems should have a minimal clock frequency of 3 GHz per Core), recommended are higher processing capacities.
• 100 MBit Network Connection (LAN)
